PLYMOUTH
CRICKET CLUB'S PLIGHT
Plymouth
Cricket Club's ground - which is also the home of the Fortescue
Cricket Club - is on council owned land in Central Park. The council
leased the land to Plymouth Sports Centre, a firm run by Argyle
chairman Paul Stapleton, in 2004. Now the cricket club has been
told to quit. Plymouth Cricket Club, however, feel they have a very
strong case for ownership of the land as they have used the ground
for over 80 years. The club needs to raise £20,000 to defend
this right in court in late summer 2008.
