NEWS
Fort
DT Victorious at Mutley
Friendly League 2007 Finals
Night!
The
29th of October was a night of much tension but an equal, if not bigger
dollop of fun which turned out to be a pretty much two horse race between
the Fortescue and Raffles B.
|
Fort
doubles pairs Craig & Rich were drawn against fellow team mates
Johnboy and Old Grey Warrior for the Mens Doubles semifinals. The
match saw Craig and Rich go through to a final against the Raffles
B pairing of Mark Sargeant and Dennis, but not without Old Grey
Warrior scoring a late ton eighty along the way! Mark Sargent also
claimed a place in the Mens Singles final by beating Craig in the
semis.
Next
up was the Ladies Singles finals where cool Raffles B Robertta narrowly
beat Ann from Raffles A. Keeping up the glory for Raffles B, Mark
Sargeant then beat Dave from the Con Club in the singles final,
but it was the Fort's turn again when Craig & Rich beat Mark
& Dennis in a breathless Doubles final! |

It
was then the turn of Fort Manager and darts team player, Steve to
take the microphone and award the season's trophies with the assistance
of the delightful Lin from Raffles B.
The
first award was presented by Raffles proprietor Phil to Iris (of
feathered dart flights fame) from Raffles A for Personifying the
Spirit of the Friendly League. Craig and Debs from the Con Club
then received their trophies for winning the Hotshots earlier in
the season. A whole host of medals were awarded for ton eighties
scored not least to Craig and newly victorious Old Grey Warrior
from the Fort. Not to be outdone, Mark Sargeant also received a
ton eighty medal and a trophy for scoring the most tons of the season
& the highest check out (154)! |

|
After
awarding cups to Robertta for the Ladies Singles, Sarg for the Men's
Singles and Craig and Rich for the Doubles Finals, it was time for
Steve to announce the winners of the cup for the Friendliest Team.
There had been a tie in the inter-team voting which resulted in
the cup being shared by The Belgrave (aka the Fortescue Quitters)
and the Mutley Tavern (now the Fortescue Taverners).
It
was now time for Steve to hand the League Cup over to Mark Sargeant
from Raffles B for their victory ahainst the Fort the previous week.
After Raffles B's noisy jubilation had died down, Steve gave out
the final award of the night: the League Trophy to the Fortescue!
Happy days! |

Venue
Changes
After the sad closure of the Mutley Tavern earlier this year, the Mutley
Tavern Darts team have decided to use the Fortescue as their home board.
They have decided to be renamed the Fortescue Taverners. We wish
them every luck in the forthcoming new league.
Raffles B,
formerly the Clifton, have now moved to the Friendship. The Hyde Park
re now the Seymour B and Bar Oasis (formerly the Woodside) have become
the Fawn B. In the meantime, Bar Oasis have put forward a new, high spirited
team who are great fun to play.

The
Fortescue Darts Team would like to commemorate Ross 'Bombardier' Boyland
who is gone but not forgotten. He is missed by all. |
